In the book “Golem” polish science fiction writer Stanisław Lem criticize evolution. Switching from gathering energy from the sunlight and turning to the energy in the food, he sees as a huge mistake of evolution. He argues that this solution is not elegant, but besides aesthetic purpose, he also sees it as simply not the optimal one. What if we could make up for this mistake, turn back the evolution and imagine how we could evolve with photosynthetic abilities.

Photosynthesis attributed for some time only to the animal kingdom had been discovered recently as a process which is performed in the animal kingdom. Elysia chlorotica, has exactly this ability, this small snail living in sea evolved into forming a special relationship with algae. Endosymbiotic relationship it forms enables snail to “eat the sun”

What if we could use this mechanism for enriching our diet.

I imagined bio-printable tattoos created out of chloroplasts intertwined with skin.

Those enhancements could give us an extra shot of energy.

I designed 3D hands with Voronoi pattern as an artefact manifesting the concept of bio-printed tattoos.
